Netflix and…Wine. The Perfect Pairings.

Just when you thought it was "Netflix and Chill”… Let’s be real. Wine > that random guy texting you to “Netflix and chill.” That’s so 2015. Fast forward to 2021. We survived a global pandemic and all we want to do is to watch Netflix… in our fat pants… drinking nothing other than wine.

I’ll admit A LOT of these last few cold winter weeks consisted of binging Netflix and guzzling wine. So I’m breaking down my March favorites and what bottle you should be popping with it!

On Netflix: I CARE ALOT

Pair with: 2019 SOLEIL. VENT. ÂME. CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Ok, so with lead actress Rosamund Pike, I automatically got ‘Gone Girl’ vibes. So right there, you go red wine. A classic Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon. You can’t go wrong with a Bordeaux red. And you can’t go wrong watching this movie. A very bizarre concept – a mastermind con-artist, scamming old people and robbing them of all their assets by becoming a court ordered guardian. Kept me on my toes all the way until the end. And someone please tell me what was with the vape Pike smoked through out the whole movie?? I couldn’t tell if it was to be “hip” and “on trend” or if it was a deal she made with production, but that vape was gigantic. But hey, she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a motion picture… all the most reason to watch! Warning: After the 2 hour movie, your cab sauv bottle might be empty.

On Netflix: BEHIND HER EYES

Pair with: 2018 FIELDHOUSE PINOT NOIR

Both, the title cover and bottle label give off a bit of an eerie vibe. In both cases, I didn’t really know what to expect… but I was intrigued. Pinot Noir is not typically my go to. And a limited series are always usually really good, but then leaves me wanting more. This bottle will make you feel the same. This show definitely requires some attention and following along. Put down your cell phone and sip away on your Fieldhouse Pinot Noir. The fieldhouse – sounding exactly like it was – existed before the vineyard and before the tasting room. It was updated with things from the owners past, and turned into something comfortable and familiar. Kind of like Behind Her Eyes. Lead actress, Simona Brown, who plays Louis Barnesly gets caught up in a web of a couples’ troubled past. The couple, although troubled, is comfortable…or so they think. Enter Louis to uncover everything. Pour your glass, and get ready for the twists and turns!

On Netflix: SHOT CALLER

Pair with: BOOKBINDER 1ST EDITION WHITE

You’re going to need something light to balance out the heaviness of this movie. “Every Bookbinder needs an apprentice – an eager maker-in training who ensure the legacy of the craft lives on through generations to come.” Similar to the wine, when a guy who has it all, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka Jaime Lannister from GOT), is the victim of an accidental crime, he does whatever he can to survive - and to keep his family alive. Little does his affiliates know, he is the “maker-in training” and you’ll have to watch to see how his life plays out. The power of knowledge and the symbol of books becomes evident within the movie, set in Southern California. This California white is Shot Caller’s perfect match.

Firefly Lane.png

On Netflix: FIREFLY LANE

Pair with: 2020 DOVE HUNT DOG ROSÉ

The story of two best friends. Of course I was pairing this with none other then rosé! Growing up in the 70s, characters Tully (played by actress Katherine Heigl) and Kate (played by actress Sarah Chalke) meet as young teens on Firefly Lane. As with any best friends, the show takes you through their ups and downs. Just like a summertime rosé, the show is light and easy to watch. Since Netflix no longer offers The Office, what else are we watching to fall asleep!? Grab your bestie, and your rosé and press play!

So what’s first on your watch list? Share with me what you’re watching! Seen these already? Watch again with these wines…I promise it will be even better. Cheers!
